1000 Hands Guan-Yin Dance

Ok, so it's 1:48am and I was searching through all my old Theatre notes from my sixth form course and I found a link to a video I haven't watched in a very long time and I thought, okay, I know no-one is reading my blog and shit... but whatever - I'll post it. At least I can remember and look back at it right?

So yeah. Anyway, this video was first reccomended to me by a class mate who suggested we watch it whilse doing research for a Bunraku puppetry performance were were gonna undertake. And since it sounded kinda "orientalish" I wanted to have a look. I'm a massive fan of most things that are of Japanese and Chinese origin. Even Maoist-Leninism. So yeah, we were sitting there watching it and I wasn't quite sure what to expect. I'm not a dancy kind of guy. So yeah, the whole class was sitting there watching it.. and as soon as it started and this choral sort of chinese music began and the stage was filled was smoke, I was totally blown away. I really really did think that the whole piece of dance was amazing. Now, being a bit of a geek I decided that when I got home, I would do some research upon the performance and try and find out some more about it, maybe see who it was done by, whether they are some famous sort of Chinese national group, or whether they earnt the right to perform in a Britains-Got-Talent-esque sort of way.

Anyway, I got home and I was astonished to find that the Guan-Yin dance that I had viewed was performed by a group of about 30 deaf and blind young men and women. Which I find truly amazing. I mean some of us are perfectly working fine and we cant even walk to a beat properly. These people can't even hear the music or see the rest of the daners and can keep perfectly in time with the rest of their troupe.

I really would be interested to know (if anyone happens to read this) any more information about this, or other performances of the same genre because stuff like this really does fascinate me.

Anyway, whilst I'm here... I thought I might mention that now that it is my Summer, I shall be updating my blogs a lot more often. Just so I can remember what the fuck I am up to.

The video which I've been rambling on about can be seen here

Credits to the dancers, and of course luatdanh for posting it.

Retro Gaming

Totally forgot I had this blog!

So today right, I was super bored. Not just bored but super super bored. So I thought to myself I might dig out the old GBC and play some Pokemon on it, because I'm awesome like that. However in the search for the GBC I discovered that I couldn't find any of my cartridges and therefore was a bit like "Ahh Shit". However when I told my brother about this little predicament, he first told me to get a life and do some homework, and secondly that I'd be able to download an Emulator & A rom at some website. So this is what I did, and now I have Pokemon Gold on my desktop. And my GOD I forgot how cool it is. With original crappy music I endeavoured to stop Team Rocket from slicing off poor Slowpoke's tails and selling them for £1,000,000,000! And it was kinda like a portal to my younger days when I used to spend all the time on the SNES playing Super Mario Bros, or on the original GB, playing Mortal Kombat. And it's something I really miss now!

Anyways I was wondering if anyone else misses the Retro Games, or the 80's/90's gaming as a whole.

No talk of your dangfangled PS3's please.
